PARCHI
The Avigliana Lakes Natural Park,
established in 1980, it is located at the mouth of the Susa Valley, at the foot of Mount Pirchiriano on which the ancient abbey stands
of the Sacra di San Michele, in a characteristic area of the morainic amphitheater of Rivoli-Avigliana, just a little more
20 kilometers from Turin.
The territory, despite its limited extension, includes a considerable variety of environments and ecological situations, as they are
present three different but interconnected biotopes, consisting of two lake basins and dai hilly reliefs
and by wetland of the Mareschi.
Headquarters del Parco is in Avigliana in Via Monte Pirchiriano n.54 -

ORSIERA PARK. ROCCIAVRE '
The Park extends into the Northern Cottian Alps, on pertinent territories
of the Chisone, Susa and Sangone Valleys.
The boundaries of the protected area run on average at an altitude of 1,400 m and the most important peaks
included within them reach almost 3,000 m: Monte Orsiera (2,890 m), Monte Rocciavrè (2,778 m)
and Punta Rocca Nera (2,852 m).
The Orsiera-Rocciavrè massif is made up of rocks of different origins, the presence of which may be
including if it is traced back to the process of Alpine orogenesis. Much of it, including its main peaks, is made up
from rocks, called ophiolites or green stones. Other rocks, called the continental aquifer, are found
instead on the outskirts of the massif.
The “recent” history of the Park's mountains is characterized by the modeling carried out by erosion.
The action of the Quaternary period glaciations is evident due to the presence of moraines and circus lakes
and glacial barrage (Chardonnet Lake, Laus Lake and La Manica Lake, Sottano Lake, Soprano Lake), rocks
montonate and valleys to "U". There are also accumulations of debris and landslides; particularly impressive
the landscape strewn with large blocks in the Cassafrera basin, in the heart of the Park. They are not registered in the park
the conditions for the formation of glaciers and not even of small permanent snowfields.

GRAN BOSCO SALBERTRAND PARK / COLOMBAN ROMEAN ECOMUSEUM
The Protected Area of the Gran Bosco di Salbertrand Natural Park extends on the orographic right
of the Val di Susa (Northern Cottian Alps), from 1000 meters above sea level to 2700 meters of the watershed.
It was established in 1980 mainly to protect the luxuriant vegetation and in particular the precious ones
fir trees and the extensive larch-cembreti. It is occupied for 70% by woods, and for the remaining 30%
from high altitude pastures and prairies.
The over 600 plant species surveyed create a great variety of environments: in the valley floor, we find broad-leaved trees
such as ash, birch, maple, alder, chestnut and beech), rising in altitude, you enter the kingdom of conifers (Scots pine, silver fir, spruce, larch, stone pine).
Among the herbaceous species it is worth noting the presence of two rarities:
the Corthusa Matthioli and the Menyanthes Trifoliata.
Park Headquarters and Visitor Center is in Salbertrand in Via Fransuà Fontan, n.1

The Salbertrand Ecomuseum is dedicated to Colombano Romean, miner and quarryman of the Ramats, image
symbol of hard and thankless work in the mountains.
For eight long years, starting from 1526, he excavated a work that is still incredible today: il Pertus, one
tunnel at 2000 meters of altitude five hundred meters long with a section of about one meter and eighty by one meter, to bring the waters of the Rio Touilles to enliven an entire slope above Chiomonte and Cels.
